Asphalt Paving Fraud

The RM of Wilton has received complaints of a potential asphalt paving fraud approaching ratepayers.

This has been reported to Maidstone RCMP

BEWARE: The parties present as a local paving company (often providing local addresses etc.) with leftover material looking to offer ratepayers services at a discounted price.

We have heard of several similar activities in other areas of the province.

Please note that no governmental agency or Vendor that is contracted by the Municipality would solicit our ratepayers.

If you are approached we encourage you to report to RCMP.

 

CONSUMER TIPS:

Ensure you do your research prior to hiring a paving contractor, especially one that approaches with unsolicited offers.  You can protect yourself by obtaining several estimates from reputable companies and comparing prices, obtaining written contracts, and checking the company's record with the Better Business Bureau.
